Nike_price_copy_3 It's not an episode of "Wife Swap." It's Argentina's presidential election. Partial election results indicate that President Nestor Kirchner and first lady Cristina Fernandez will switch roles in December. That would make Fernandez the country's first elected female president. Sound sorta familiar?

In this audio clip, the AP's Niko Price discusses the comparisons between Fernandez and Sen. Hillary Clinton.

Fast Focus: Dalai Lama goes to Washington

Despite China's objections, President Bush met with the Dalai Lama Tuesday.Foster_klug1

The White House defended the meeting in the president's residence and dismissed Beijing's warning that the talks and the awarding of the Congressional Gold Medal to him on Wednesday would damage relations between the United States and China.

Associated Press writer Foster Klug, who's covering the Dalai Lama's visit, told asap the White House is trying to keep the event low-key by not releasing a photograph of the president's meeting with the exiled spiritual leader of Tibet's Buddhists.  The White also declined to make any public statements afterward, although the Dalai Lama did speak to reporters.

In this audio clip , Klug discusses some of China's objections to the meeting and offers perspective on the U.S. celebrations this week in the Dalai Lama's honor.

But taking it a step further: What sort of influence might Gore and his peace prize have over the race for '08 if, say, he doesn't run for president? And how much thought is he putting into his impact on the race as a non-candidate?

We put those questions to AP Online Political Editor Ron Fournier, a veteran of inside-the-beltway political reporting who wrote the AP's latest news analysis looking at whether Gore is likely to run.
