The claws are coming out! Last night, The Slug stopped by the Meow Mix House — the set for the "first reality show starring cats." Think: "America's Next Top Feline." The "house" is actually inside a "Today" show-esque glassed-in storefront on Madison Avenue in New York, where 10 cats from shelters across the nation will live and compete. Viewers can watch all the pussy action on webcams and vote for their favorite catty contestant online. See more of these famous felines after the jump.
You can catch the Meow Mix House "show" during three-minute segments in the 9 p.m. EDT hour Friday on the Animal Planet channel for 10 consecutive weeks, starting June 16. You know, if you don't have anything better to do.
A panel of judges will decide who goes and who lands on their feet. (No word on if they were able to snag Janice Dickinson.) Throughout the competition, the cats will go whisker-to-whisker in bouts such as best purr and top post-climber.
Two winners will be chosen — one by judges and one by viewers in online voting. The judges' choice will receive the title of "feline vice president of research and development." When voted out, loser cats will scat to a private home — although the biggest losers are the human former reality show contestants seen hanging out in the Meow Mix House last night, inclduing Gervase Peterson and Jon "Jonny Fairplay" Dalton from "Survivor," seen here canoodling in one of the cats' bunk beds. Meow!
