Chatting with Mike from "Big Brother 8"
We can't say we're shocked that closed-mouthed, hot-bodied Mike Dutz was evicted from the "Big Brother 8" house in last night's live episode. Quiet people are soooo suspicious. And attractive people are sooo threatening. Not a good combination for a contestant on this summer's most paranoid reality show. Recently upgraded Chenbot didn't have much interview time with Mikey last night, so let's ask him some questions of our own.
The Slug: Hello Mike. How's it going?
Mike Dutz: It's going well. How are you doing?
The Slug: Actually, not that well. I knew I was gonna talk to you this morning, so I tried to do my hair like yours, and it took forever. What's your secret?
Mike Dutz: Boy, there is no secret involved. It is a matter of drying the hair off thoroughly, throwing some hair product in it, a little bit of hairspray and you're good to go.
The Slug: And a lot of maintenance?
Mike Dutz: It can take a little bit of maintenance. It tends to fall out of place. Just put some hairspray in it.
The Slug: Will do. So did you have any idea you'd be going?
Mike Dutz: I didn't know for a fact. I had an idea only because of the way the campaigning was going. In my campaigning in the afternoon yesterday, I felt pretty strong about staying in the house and the votes going my way. As the night neared, I noticed mixed signals from people I was talking to. I started to think the votes wouldn't go my way for certain people that I thought were.
The Slug: Were you surprised Eric and Zach voted to keep you in the house? And that the rest of the house voted to keep Kail?
Mike Dutz: I wasn't surprised I didn't get votes from other people in the house. They all got together. They could play a little bit more with Kail than they could with me, in terms of it's easier to get her evicted on a week they need to get her evicted on. She's kind of in a situation where everyone's turned against her and she'll be easily disposed of whereas if I was to remain in the house, it wouldn't have been as easy for them.
The Slug: How do you feel about the twist that Eric is America's Player and that America voted for him to evict Kail instead you?
Mike Dutz: The twist definitely surprised me. I had no clue. I did make the comment in the house that he goes into the Diary Room quite a bit. Now that makes sense to me. The fact that America wanted me to stay versus Kail definitely lifts my spirits up and gives me the confirmation that I was going in the right direction.
The Slug: Many people out there in America have said that you're the quietest "Big Brother" contestant ever. How do you feel about gaining that reputation?
Mike Dutz: This is the first time I'm hearing that. To me, that reputation doesn't matter. I was just trying not to release too much information to anybody in the game. I just thought if I didn't give out too much information, I couldn't get myself caught in any lies or manipulations where it could come and bite me a little later on. So it's kind of surprising to hear that.
The Slug: You're even the star of your own YouTube video series now. It's called "Great Moments in Mike's Speeches." They're basically clips of you not saying anything while other people are blabbing their mouths. How does that make you feel to be the star of such a series?
Mike Dutz: I guess it's kind of amusing to me. I can probably picture when those moments happened. I was definitely feeling like I had to be the listener. I felt it would be rude to interrupt those particular conversations. The most I could really do is stare at them intently and give them the feeling that I was really listening when, in all reality, it was really hard to sit there and listen.
The Slug: Do you regret getting into the "Mrs. Robinson" alliance with Kail, Nick and Zach?
Mike Dutz: I actually do regret getting into the alliance. I wanted to try to remain solo as long as I could. Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way for me, which ultimately led to my demise.
The Slug: Why be so loyal to Kail this early in the game? You're stealthy. You could've flipped flopped around and made an alliance with someone else.
Mike Dutz: I chose to play based on integrity. I started out being fair to Kail, and I wanted to remain that way up until the end. I feel like I owed her a little bit of respect due to the fact she put her neck on the line to campaign against Dick. That was also my plan. I felt terrible that she was caught in the act and put up on the nominee block. I wanted to make it fair for her.
The Slug: Was she ever forthcoming with you about her real occupation?
Mike Dutz: She may have been, but I honestly do not remember.
The Slug: She actually owns several businesses in her hometown in Oregon. She's not just a real estate agent.
Mike Dutz: Wow. I had no idea. That gives me a little bit different perspective. Maybe she didn't need the money as badly as I thought she did. That's surprising news to me.
The Slug: Let's talk about Jen, the star of "Big Brother 8." What did you think about her?
Mike Dutz: She has an odd personality. A lot of people made fun of her. I tried to look past it. She's a fairly good person on the inside. I got along with her pretty good. We did have some fun with some games that we played about her. One of the games was called "I/You." Anytime she would say "I," the players would have to take a drink of water. She definitely talked about herself a lot.
The Slug: That was funny. That actually did make the show. So Jen's attractive. You're attractive. You're both single. Why didn't you hook it up?
Mike Dutz: I would agree she's attractive, but there were no sparks. If I don't see anything in it, I'm not gonna pursue it.
The Slug: You're a model. Now that you have some "Big Brother" fame, would pose nude for the right amount of money?
Mike Dutz: No. Definitely not anything that would expose full nudity. No, I wouldn't do that.
The Slug: Just semi-nudity?
Mike Dutz: Yeah, I would want to leave some mystery to myself.

Hey Slug. Thanks for that interview.
Mike seems like a cool guy. I am surprised, though, that HE is surprised that he's known as the quietest HG ever..haha! It sort of goes to show some HG's have no idea how they are perceived by others.(Not gonna mention any names *cough*Waaaamber*cough*).
Then again, Mike could have been the biggest chatterbox in the house for all we know. Maybe they just didn't show a lot of Mikes convos or interactions w/ others on the feeds. BB editing: skewed? Of course. But they have to do it, to make the show more "inneresting"..(Kail's Word of the Day).
I feel kind of bad for the guy for a couple of reasons.
First, he said something I recall 'three-time-pre-sequester-evictee' Kayser Riydah say in his last eviction interview with Chenbot. (Paraphrasing): "I wanted to come into this house and play with integrity and leave with it intact". 'Integrity' and 'play' being the key words here. Mike said something similar and it simply isn't possible to win BB or even get very far in the game and keep your integrity intact.(Well, it can probably be done if..umm.....nah.) Plus, Mike really didn't 'play' the game. He was laying TOO low, unfortunately. That definitely leads to suspicion in the BB house. I guess it was noble of him to stay true to his "Mrs. Robinson affair" by trying to help out Kail in that fiasco of a POv pedastal comp. Again, just like integrity...noblity + BB = Bye-bye. Koo-koo-ka-choo. (Bless you , Mike) :)
Second reason: Mike has realized (way too late, obviously) that it was a bad move to commit to an alliance on Day 1. Has he not watched BB before? Just because you are asked to join one, or you feel 'cornered' and feel like you have to say "yes" right away, doesn't mean you do it or even abide by it! (Nick has said that's how he felt,(cornered) when Kail approached him about it in the SR Day 2. Well, booeffinghoo, Nick. Bah. Grow some testicles).
So, in closing...(yeah, I hear the crowd roar)..Mike, wish you could have stayed in a while longer, but unfortunately, you are just too nice for the cut-throat game of Big Brother. Good luck in life, I'm sure you'll be successful with whatever that entails.
Oh...I won't state reasons why, but I'm SO glad you didn't feel any 'sparks' with Jen. That is all.:)

Not only is Mike Dutz one incredible looking man, but he is also obviously a very decent, honest guy. I would LOVE to date him. Guys like him are a rare find indeed. I would love to give him a foot massage while he sips a brandy in front of a roaring fire in a stone cottage on a pristine lake in update New York.
