Will he or won't he? That's the question AP sports writer Ken Peters says fans ought to be asking about David Beckham's scheduled first appearance:

Peters writes:

Beckham, who joined the team last Friday and went through a very light session with a trainer during the team's practice Monday, is nursing a sore left ankle and coach Frank Yallop said he was day-to-day.

It won't be determined until later in the week whether the English star will be able to make his much-anticipated debut when the Galaxy play Chelsea FC in an exhibition match Saturday night in Carson. That game already is sold out, and ESPN is set to televise it.
