What a Card!

Merry Christmas from The Slug! We're peacing out for the next few days. Check back next week as we'll continue to preview midseason shows. Enjoy the holidays. As our Christmas gift to you, we're gonna let you peep at some of our favorite holiday cards that we received from various networks, record labels, media outlets and public relations firms. Come inside and make yourself warm.

Fa la la ... oh la la. We're not sure who that lovely lady is on the holiday card from the Web sites of Maxim, Stuff and Blender, but she should probably put on a Santa hat or something. Her hair looks wet, and The Slug doesn't want her catching a cold.

Reverb Communications — they represent gaming companies like RedOctane, makers of "Guitar Hero" — did something totally unique this year and sent out Festivus cards. On the cover, there's a Festivus pole that's not decorated with anything, natch. At the bottom, they include a definition for those not in-the-know.

Love this one! It's a flip book from Capitol Records of their building going from morning to night.

How many people can say they got a Christmas card from Santa Claus?! The jolly people at Holiday World in Santa Claus, Ind., sent The Slug an adorable little card featuring Mr. Claus himself. On the inside, along with warm wishes, is some details about the Turkey Whirl ride opening in 2007. Fun!

This is from the Disney/ABC publicity department. There's a family-style photo of everyone on the cover, but it looks as though some have been Photoshopped into the picture. The inside is hilarious. They've crossed through some of their proposed holiday sayings. (For example: "Finally, it's good to be Lost, Desperate and Grey during the holidays!" and "This holiday season, take some time to enjoy The View.")

Here's one from TVLand. It's sweet. OK. Next!

Oh, this one might be the cutest. It's from Classic Media, a company that manages old school properties such as "Lassie" and "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer." We just interviewed them about holiday specials. It's so long it wouldn't fit in the photo!

How pretty! Not only does this one have a beautiful golden snowflake on the cover, but the inside says a donation has been made to Autism Speaks and the Lollipop Theatre Network in our name. Awwww. This card comes from PMK/HBH, one of the biggest publicity firms in Hollywood. They have clients like Matt Damon and America Online.

This card from Beck Media & Marketing — they represent "Real World" makers Bunim/Murray — is our favorite because it's so darn inventive. On the cover is a snowflake with the heads of all the James Bonds. (Yes, even George Lazenby.) The inside reads: "Wishing you the best 007 ever!" Zing!
